We feel so lucky that we found Canbury. It is a very special place that seems to find a way to support, challenge and care for young people who, for one reason or another, just wouldn't thrive in a more traditional, large secondary school environment.

Our daughter (Year 7) is happy and thriving at Canbury. She bounces out of the house each morning and genuinely looks forwards to her days at school.

Our son started at Canbury School six months ago in Year 7, after a difficult two year period where severe anxiety had caused him to miss a considerable amount of schooling. Day by day, Canbury is transforming our son into a more confident boy, increasingly able to face life’s ups and downs. He benefits enormously from the small, supportive environment and from a staff committed to providing the reassurance and nurture he needs to thrive. He, and we as parents, have also benefited from the non-judgmental attitude the school cultivates within the student and parental community – a breath of fresh air.

Having spent two years in a mainstream secondary school, our daughter had become very withdrawn and unhappy. We looked at several different schools before meeting with Miss Clancy and we straightaway felt Canbury would be the ideal school. The school is welcoming and supportive, whilst offering a solid academic syllabus (the other schools seem to offer one thing or the other, not both). Our daughter is nearing the end of her second term and has absolutely loved her time there. She has gained a lot of confidence and we are sure that she will continue to grow in independence as time goes on. It is reassuring to find a caring school that caters for children who need a more individual approach. I would have no hesitation in recommending Canbury - we are absolutely delighted!

My daughter has been very happy at the school since joining in Year 9. Last year was the first academic year of school life where she was smiling every day and always looked forward to the school day. The staff are very supportive and pupils are kind, inclusive and non-judgmental.

Canbury School is like one big happy family.

My daughter started late at Canbury school, starting in year nine. Since attending Canbury School, she has blossomed into a confident young lady who is eager to attend school each morning. Canbury is a place where she has made fantastic progress both academically and socially .
Canbury School treats each child as an individual focusing and harnessing their individual talents and works hard where children might need extra help. Canbury School is more then just a school - it is a family. This is evident at all assemblies and sporting events where all students and staff help, encourage and support each and every student, regardless of year group or ability. Everybody is included. As a parent, my only wish is that I had found and enrolled my daughter in year 7.

My son joined Canbury School at the beginning of Year 10; he previously attended a large senior school which was unable to meet his needs.

From the first time we walked through the door, we knew this was the school that he needed. It may seem an odd observation but Canbury does not look like a school, it looks like a grand house and whilst that should make no difference, it makes a huge difference to pupils who can find a new school a daunting prospect.

The fact that it also limits the number of pupils to 65 makes it a family and that is also important. I am certain that most of the pupils at the school today can name every other pupil and that is very unusual but very nice too.

The quality of teaching at Canbury is first class. Ms Clancy and her team have, and continue to, provide an extremely high level of teaching whilst also making sure the school is a happy and thoroughly unique place of learning and as a parent, you cannot ask for any more than that.

My son has benefitted and continues to benefit hugely from being at Canbury, he has achieved things that he would not have got even close to at his previous school including participating in several sporting activities and being a member of the prefect team.

From the moment we visited Canbury School, we were impressed. It was a warm and inviting place with a good curriculum, enthusiastic teaching and support staff with a sensible and empathetic but always highly professional approach. We have been delighted with how the school has coached and developed our child and provided exemplary pastoral care as needed. We particularly like how the teachers build on individual talent, recognise effort and build confidence in the students which are invaluable life skills. This school is highly recommended.

Canbury has been everything I hoped it would be for my son, who started recently in Year 10. Pastorally, the school is very empathetic which is incredibly important; but this is equally well balanced by Canbury’s strong desire for all its pupils to maximise their academic capabilities. Without any shadow of doubt, I feel my son is at exactly the right educational establishment.

At the end of our son’s first week at Canbury we wanted to email, especially after the wobble in the summer, to let you know how well he has settled in. We have just finished dinner and had plenty of conversation about the friends he has made, the positive feedback he has been getting and how at home he feels. Of course, it is a journey, but it’s been a great start so thanks and well done to you and the rest of the team.

"I am so grateful that my son has been given the opportunity to be learning at such a fantastic school. Staff have been there with support at every tricky step of the way during the transition this term and he has already come on a long way in confidence. His own words to describe where he is at present are "at my primary school I felt I was struggling in climbing a mountain and never reaching the top, but since joining Canbury I'm at the top now and ready to learn." That is so encouraging to hear as a parent."

"This school is very important to me. I honestly feel it has played a role in helping me be the person I am today. Canbury is unique. Unlike some schools, it is actually nurturing. It truly feels that this school really cares about its students. It is not just about making sure everybody gets an A* in their GCSEs, it is about making sure that everybody is becoming a rounded, healthy, happy person. I regard this school as my extended family."

"Canbury School is a very small school but the staff clearly focus on wonderfully proactive ways of teaching the children. The school never ceases to amaze me with the fantastic opportunities and learning experiences that you give to our children! Every member of staff is passionate and dedicated to their roles; this projects through our happy children and determines a positive future for them. Thank you!!"

"My son started in September in Year 7. It is now December and he is transformed. He came to the school, quite shy. He had previously been in a class of 30 children and dyslexia had held him back. The difference in his confidence is extraordinary to witness. My son loves Maths and loves Sport. He is excelling at Maths in the small class. In terms of Sport, he has had such an adventure. He has in the last four months tried Kayaking, Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton and Squash which he has loved. In short, we are so grateful to have found Canbury. Thank you for everything you do and a special thank you for allowing my son to shine. Before Canbury, I felt there was a cloud above his head. That cloud has moved on and the Sun is shining directly on him every day in his school life at Canbury."

"J is absolutely adamant that she does not want to even miss a day of school! We are obviously really pleased and think this is absolutely the right attitude! May I add that we are now seeing a completely different child in J, a much happier, more confident young lady. The school is working wonders for her. Thank you once again."

"This school genuinely transforms lives. One parent commented, ‘It has literally been a life saver for my son. They believed in him from the start. I can’t speak highly enough of the school.’ Another parent enthused, ‘Canbury has allowed my son to be the man he should be.’ Head says, ‘We are the best kept secret in south west London but the message is getting out. We’re being talked about. We really are a school like no other.’ School motto sums up school perfectly: ‘Unique. Happy. Inclusive.’ A remarkable place."
