Wellbeing

Our Year 7 and 8 Wellbeing Curriculum is designed to equip students with essential skills for emotional regulation, social understanding, and personal growth.

Key Focus Areas:
Year 7: Mastering Emotional Intelligence

Students are introduced to the Zones of Regulation framework to help them identify, understand, and communicate their emotions. We focus on developing social awareness, recognising non-verbal communication, and understanding the impact of expected and unexpected behaviours. The year culminates in building a wellbeing toolbox, exploring sensory supports, and learning thinking strategies like ‘Size of a Problem’ and developing the Inner Coach to manage challenging emotions (Yellow Zone tools).

Year 8: Cultivating Resilience and Mindfulness

The focus shifts to Growth Mindset, exploring the brain’s plasticity and the importance of effort, mistakes, and feedback for success.

This curriculum provides the foundation for self-awareness and positive mental health, ensuring students have the strategies needed to navigate the challenges of adolescence and beyond.
